Fifteen years ago, I was a personal trainer and thought I knew how to workout. But years of traveling for work packed on the pounds even though I continued to lift weights on and off. When my belt size got larger than my inseam, I knew I had to get serious and take action. I signed up for the BTB Boot Camp, and not being a morning person, I dragged myself out of bed at 5:30am each day and drove to Piedmont Park. Every day was a new challenge and the instructors pushed us in a motivating way. About three weeks into BC, I noticed my clothes started to get loose and I felt better every day.
I asked Melissa what she did to stay in shape. She said the instructors did this thing called CrossFit. I was very interested and wanted to learn more. I joined BTB CrossFit and have been going consistently 4 – 5 times per week. I won’t deny that I am a little scared every day I walk into the gym before I know what the workout of the day is. The workouts push me to my limits, but I always feel great at the end of them.
So, a little more than six months after starting Boot Camp and then CrossFit, I have lost 25 pounds, 10% body fat, and my waist has dropped from 36” to 32”. I feel physically stronger than I have at any point in my life. But most importantly, this former personal trainer now knows how to really ‘workout’.
