I work on public policies related to kids, especially in the area of childhood obesity, and I was sick and tired of going to meetings about childhood obesity while slowly gaining incremental amounts of weight myself! I got serious about modeling healthy behaviors for my own kids, too, and thanks to BTB’s boot camp program, I got hooked on a daily fitness routine that finally works for me. The core principles of the program have seriously transformed my life.
My physical results have been wonderful: Lost 16 pounds, and when from a size 12 to a size 6. But even more amazing to me is that after many years of problems with depression and anxiety, I have been able to cut my prescribed daily anti-anxiety medication by HALF, which my doctor attributes directly to my being in such good shape. I don't think we talk enough about the benefits of daily physical activity for mental health and I would love to share this aspect of my story.
The key for my success is the crazy camaraderie of the group workouts. Having people there to encourage me, and vice-versa, makes me work extra hard, and burn more calories. In addition, watching my kids getting into working out and coming to the gym with me keeps it fun.
For the first time, I really believe I can stay healthy for life.
