I was introduced to BTB Fitness by various friends who all swear by the same claim… it’s freakin awesome and it works!  I have to admit, I was a little reluctant to jump on the bandwagon since the only free weight I’d ever lifted was a dumbbell & I certainly couldn’t do a pull up (much less 100 for time).  I also fell into that bucket of people who believed that women who lift heavy weights magically turn into bulky she-men.  Of course, I couldn’t have been more wrong and now have added it to my list of exaggerations I was taught growing up in ballet.

It wasn’t until this past June that I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. I think it was a combination of hearing yet another friend raving about the results they were getting at BTB and my sister introducing me to the term “skinny fat” that ultimately got me to sign up for Dynamics. And just like that, it sunk in… yes, I’d lost all 30 lbs of my prego weight and was wearing a size 4 but I was definitely not in good shape.  I was occasionally running, working out on machines and taking a yoga class here and there but nothing consistent.  Needless to say, I struggled the first week of Dynamics and started love-hating squats but at the end of the course, I’d found a fitness program that really challenged and motivated me.  Every time I leave the gym now, I feel like I’ve achieved something.  Today I got so close to my first pull up that I bruised my chin and it somehow felt wonderful.  Over the past 2 months, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my muscle tone, strength and overall energy levels.  I’ve also noticed practical changes…  I can now run uphill pushing a jogging stroller without stopping.  My son absolutely loves it!

So, if you’re still wondering what the heck’s in the kook-aid, it’s this simple: we have incredible trainers that know how to scale & push us to achieve what we’d never do on our own; we get total body workouts that offer a completely new challenge every day and are supported by an amazing culture where we cheer each other on to conquer our next feat.  I can’t think of better way to describe it now than… it’s freakin awesome and it works!
