Clean up after yourself.  If you sweat all over the floor or equipment, wipe it down when done.  If you get chalk marks all over the floor, wipe it up! Put away your toys.

When chalking your hands, keep your hands OVER the bucket; don’t clap your hands with dust on them all over the gym floor.

Well behaved, flea-free, quiet and GROOMED dogs are welcome in our gym.  Any dog that is fearful of humans, loud noises or other dogs should probably stay home.  Nobody wants to do push-ups in dog hair.  Leave heavy shedding dogs at home please.  Dogs must be on leash during the workout.

Well behaved, flea-free, quiet and groomed babies are also welcome!  As long as your baby is in a seat or small pack n' play, she is welcome.  Crying babies should be consoled, so be prepared to take a break in your workout if necessary.  Please do not bring babies to your first week of Dynamics training.

Bring your own equipment!  We highly suggest purchasing a nicer jump rope and sizing it so it fits you properly. We also suggest keeping tape, wraps and scissors in your gym bag.  Most of us deal with hand rips; however, hand rips can interfere with your workouts.  So, bring tape to avoid hand rips or to cover those that have already occurred.  You’ll learn more about this later.  Bottom line: We don’t have tape for you.  We sell it at cost so it is available for you if you don’t have time to run to CVS.

When doing workouts that look like this: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 or 5-5-5-5-5, you will start to use a lot of 10 pound plates.  Don’t be “that guy” or “that girl” that has eight 10# plates on your bar.  Switch out some of your 10’s for 15’s or 25’s.  If you have all the plates, everyone else has to wait longer to finish their workouts.

Dropping weights: we love that you can drop weights in our gym.  By the way, if you haven’t tried it, go to LA Fitness and drop a bar from overhead just as a social science experiment.  Post result to the blog!  However, dropping weights from overhead and being a dramatic freak about it are 2 different things.  Be normal.  Also, when you drop weights (like kettlebells and dumbbells) on the lifting platforms (aka the wood on the floor), it leaves a big hole.  Don’t do that. Drop those things on the rubber mats and all will be well.

What to wear: We suggest long pants or long socks on days that involve deadlifts or Olympic lifting to avoid removing skin from your shins. Comfortable, fitted workout clothing is best.  Clothing that is really baggy can hinder your workout, cause chaffing and even get caught in equipment.  It doesn’t need to be skin tight by any means, just nothing excessively baggy.

Shoes: One of the best shoe choices for CrossFit are Chucks.  Look for something that is low-profile like the Converse All Stars with little to no cushioning for most gym work.  When we are running longer distances you may want a pair of regular running shoes.  As time goes on you may want to invest in some weightlifting shoes.

Towels: we do not provide towel service.  That would just be way too fancy for us.  We suggest bringing a small hand towel from home if you are super sweaty.

Water: feel free to bring your own (you do get a BTB water bottle when you join us) or purchase a bottle for $1 at the gym.
