Friday Favorites

Congrats on making it through BootCamp booties!! You have done a wide variety of workouts. You've had ups, you've had downs, and you've probably had some sideways. No two days were the same and we are sure you did some exercises you haven’t ever done (or thought of) before.
There were plenty of new experiences for boot campers and instructors a like. You met new people, got faster and stronger, learned how you should be eating, had a lot of good days and maybe even one or two bad days. So what was your favorite part of this past month?
Did you have a favorite workout or exercise? Did you like the mix of running, pull ups, push ups, and squats during Park Smurph? Or are you now an expert at V-Ups or LGO’s? Are you surprised by how far you can actually run now? What are you looking forward to doing as part of your exercise routine in the coming months?
Don’t be shy; we want to hear from you!! Post your comments to the blog and let us know what you think. But be warned, just because you didn’t like running hills, probably doesn’t mean you are going to do any less of that in the future!
And OF COURSE we want to hear about the improvements you have seen and are feeling. Go ahead and brag a little, you did the hard work and deserve a big ol' pat on the back!
Thanks for making it another great month of BootCamp! We love you booties!

Everyone should suprise David McMurrain and show up at his condo for a party. Its only fitting that he host the last bootcamp party since he hosted the first several, way back in the day.
Many, many years ago, I remember going to Manuel's (in college), staying out late, watching Braves games, etc. Never in my life did I imagine that I'd be returning to that parking lot in the wee small hours of the morning to workout!
What a ride it has been, Freedom. Bike tossing men, bubblelicious, playdates, Little 5, the stinky shirts of JW or Teeum, hilarious cadences on rifle runs, Shelby getting attacked by birds, Erin's amazing extreme jacks, THE FUNK, and most of all, huge results, PRs, countless memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Thank you BTB...thank you Greek for those fun months...thank you Vinings (for giving me Charles)....and thank you Freedom for giving me a renewed sense of self, a new perspective on fitness, and just a whole lotta love.
I heart Freedom.
Thank you BTB for helping me get my fitness life together!! You have certainly not seen the last of me. I will be back--maybe at the gym!
Jules - you were the first instructor to kick my azz. Thank you for that!
Thanks to Erin, Shelby, Tim, Mark E. Mark, Jules, Sara, Greg, J-Dub, Sue, Anna, Dennis for all making Freedom Bootcamp the best!!
So many memories come back to me when I think of my time at bootcamp. Switching to Freedom after getting in trouble for "pushing a girl off the sidewalk" at Decatur, all of the instructors watching Chris and Beth flirt in the Manuel's parking lot after bootcamp (they are now engaged), homeless men yelling at us from the woods (some of them a bit more scary than others), and Freedom usually winning the bootcamp challenges (and we had to stop the challenges b/c the other camps got jealous).
Never ever did I expect to leave bootcamp with so many close, personal friends. People that have truly made my life better. Although I haven't been around much since I had Harper, I will always consider myself a Freedomite. I'll miss you guys and really hope to see you at the gym.
And give endurance a try! I did it for my last marathon and was right between my 2 previous marathon times (7 min slower and 2 min faster- pretty close times for a 4 hour race). I did one 10 mile run vs multiple 16mi + runs. And it was the first race that I wasn't questioning my decision to run it at mi 20.
FRRREEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
words cant describe what freedom bc has meant to Shelby and i -- not only has it gotten us in the best shape of our lives, but we've had so much fun and met some of our very best and closest friends there...we had no idea when we signed up for btb 3 years ago how much it would change our lives, and all for the better. so thank you to all the freedomites over the years, instructors, and of course Jeff and Melissa...y'all are the best!!!
however! i truly hope that each and every one of you gives the endurance program a shot. i've been doing cf endurance for about 6 weeks and the improvement in my running is already night and day...i feel stronger, faster, and way more comfortable running than ever before. its the perfect program whether you're training for an event (any event, from 5ks to marathons) or even if you're just apprehensive about running. you've got nothing to lose!
Gotta give some shouts out to the FINE VINE...and all the BTB Camps. This is a fantastic day in the BTB Family. We are celebrating all the accomplishments of so many folks. I get a little teared up just thinking about all the lives that BTB has changed over the years.
Congratulations to each and every person that committed to getting up in the morning...or racing away from the office in the afternoon to make camp, instructors & campers alike. Thanks to Jeff and Melissa for keeping the fire burning is so many muscles.
And now we get to open a new chapter. So fired up for Endurance. Erin is going to rock it. I remember when this bootcamp company introduced this thing called Crossfit to its clients. I was one of those souls that booked it down to Poncey every Saturday to get my ars pummeled. Now I get to see them do it again. Congrats to BTB for having the vision to bring yet another great program to the Atlanta area. Can't wait to see how high we fly now.
Last day of bootcamp....what is this salty substance flowing down my face? Tears? Hell no! Sweat! What a great last day. Base camp. Base camp 2. Endurance--which the clown winked at me on that last sprint. Thanks to all of you fine folks that kept my car in the road toward bootcamp those mornings instead of turning around. Seriously there were mornings that I would yell at myself to "suck it up"! I will never forget 8 degrees and sleet doing Park Murp. I can't look back and say it was great. It sucked. But to have all of you guys in a world of suck with me made it all worth while.
I look forward to the next generation of workouts. Cheers to all of you! This is not the end!
I want to also express my sincerest thanks to the BTB family, and my even closer family at Freedom. 3 years ago I decided to give Bootcamp a try for one month....well, here I am 36 months later with some wonderful memories, wonderful friends, and having achieved a "mental" toughness that I didn't have before when it came to workouts. I have loved every minute (ok, well maybe not EVERY minute) of my time at Freedom. You all kept me motivated to look forward to getting out of bed when that crazy alarm went off at 5:15. I look forward to giving Endurance a try too and seeing if I can kick my running up a notch. I'd love to become a fast old gal. :-) Thanks so much BTB!!!
My heart is so sad!! I met some of the most wonderful people through Freedom (my fiance, aka Freedom Fighter, included). You all changed my life for the better...
